Which boxing gloves weight should I purchase?

Padwork/Mitts
We recommend using 10oz-12oz as a general rule for most teenagers and adult users as they offer the minimum amount of weight required, adequate resistance and protection for your hands and wrists, if you’re over 85kgs, a 14oz pair may be adequate also. If you’re under 60kgs, 8oz may also suffice.

Boxing Bag/Punching Bag
We recommend using the same information as the above, however if your boxing bag is heavy and rock solid, a heavier glove such as 16oz should lower the risk of injury as you won’t be able to punch as fast. Our Kara range is an excellent choice for this type of training.

Sparring
For sparring, our team recommends using 14oz-16oz for most teenagers and adults as heavier gloves should provide more protection for both the boxer and their opponent in the ring. A 16oz pair of boxing gloves will also be bulkier compared to a 12oz model of the same glove, giving the user more padding and a larger glove overall.

While the above it a guide, not all sparring gloves are built the same way. Some models have thicker knuckle padding, while others may have less for greater feedback in the finer padding, for example, the L2 Mark Pro Sparring Gloves are an excellent choice for boxing or Muay Thai sparring.
